Photography
Street and landscape photography. Capturing light, shadow, and fleeting moments across cities and coastlines.
The Chase
I started shooting street photography in 2018 with a beat-up film camera and a roll of Tri-X. The constraint of 36 exposures per roll taught me to be patient — to wait for the right moment rather than spraying and praying.
What I Shoot
Street — unposed, unplanned. The geometry of shadows at 3pm. The way a stranger's coat catches the wind. A hand reaching for a door handle. These moments exist for a fraction of a second and then vanish forever.
Landscape — the opposite of street. Slow, deliberate, requiring hours of waiting for the right light. Coastal cliffs at golden hour, fog rolling through mountain valleys, empty beaches at sunrise.
Gear
- Contax G2 with a 45mm f/2 — my everyday carry
- Mamiya 7 for medium format landscapes
- Sony A7III for digital work and scanning film
Why It Matters
Photography has made me a better programmer. Both disciplines reward patience, attention to detail, and a willingness to iterate. A good photograph, like clean code, removes everything that isn't essential.
